This used to be my Fiancée and I's car until some 15 year old girl without a license decided to fail to yield when turning. Now it is totaled. I'm so freaking pissed, but like... trying to stay positive.
Now today we got a quote from the insurance company that is not enough to pay off the car. So basically, we are going to owe money for an un-drivable car. That was made un-drivable by someone else's fault.  And not have a car anymore. I went 4 years walking / riding the train everywhere and I really just don't want to go back to that again. So... guess we're gonna keep bugging the insurance to try to get them to cover the car completely.

I'm sorry for this lame "feel sorry for me" post. But... IDK I just want to talk and complain about it. LOL.

To be honest, you do have grounds for legal action against her/the family. Most people wouldn't do it, but frankly, you guys should. This is something that could have been avoided if her family was actually, you know, responsible for her actions. I really think you should think about a legal move here, if only to pay off a car that their daughter destroyed.

Worse case, maybe you could go after the girls parents?
I know when I was a kid, if I f*ed something up, my Mom was responsible for me.
The kids not 18, she's still the parents responsibility.

I hope it works out for you!

I am sorry to hear that, it's fucking annoying when other people's mistakes end up having a negative effect on your life. If only the world would be in complete order and have less of these stupid mistakes.

Hopefully things will get better for you soon Christina.

Well if she was 15 driving without an adult she's probably set to pay a very expensive ticket/face other charges. :|

Yeah bitch at the insurance company, wtf. Maybe try to get a quote somewhere else too, and try to find out the name of the place that quoted the 10k price for the repairs. Believe me that the insurance company (hers is probably paying for your car) has a huge bankroll and there is no, NO reason why your car shouldn't be fixed.

Exact same thing happened to me the other week, 'cept I was riding a bus. Guess which vehicle came out of it better. :P

Ugh, unbelievable! I know the important thing is that everyone is ok, but if I were in your position, I'd still be extra pissed with that girl. How irresponsible can you get! Did she at least seem sorry? I hope she learned her lesson about pulling stupid stunts like this. Best of luck with the insurance.

THAT SUCKS! What the hell was that girl doing driving without a license?! I hope the insurance company bends and pays for the rest of the damage. Good luck!
