I've been invited to create a character for This is my first time to create an RP character, so I'd love any critique! I don't want to make a Mary-Sue for sure , so I'm a bit nervous. haha.

Name: Tikaani ( "Tika" )

Age: 14

Element: Waterbender. She is so obsessed with animals, every time she bends her water takes the shape of an animal. And she has invented her own animal-themed water bending moves.

Nationality: Southern Water Tribe

Height: 5'2"

Weight: 115 lbs

Gender: Female

Body Type: Slender

Personality: (positive traits) Tikaani is soft-spoken until she gets to know you, at which time she is a jokester. She's very friendly and has a high empathy, often drawn to those who others may find difficult to empathize with.

(negative traits) She tends to stumble around her words when talking to people but can talk to animals just fine. She hates to be wrong and takes it very personally. She also hates any type of argument or debate and becomes overly emotional / takes them too personally.
She knows very little about technology and modern devices, and feels inadequate/ignorant when she attempts to use/understand them.

History:

Tikaani is from a small part of the Southern water tribe which is behind the rest of the world's advances in technology. Her tribe has a lot of respect for animals and make totems and pendants in honor of their spirits.

Her Mother and Father are gardeners, hunters, and trackers. They provide much of the food their tribe eats. Because of this, Tikani knows a lot about growing plants and tracking animals. She doesn't like hunting animals, and doesn't stick around when its time to prepare them for dinner. When she moves to Avatar Academy she leans towards a vegetarian diet.

Tikaani's father is also a water-bender, though he mostly uses it for fishing. Her mother is a non-bender. Her parents know she is a talented bender, as she has invented many of her own bending techniques. When they hear about Avatar Academy they are reluctant to send Tikaani away, but she insists she wants to go. Her mother sews her some special water tribe clothes she can wear in warmer climates, and her father gives her a wolf-fox skin she wears over her shoulders.

While she travels and when she arrives at avatar academy she becomes very overwhelmed by how different the rest of the world is and the technology they use. She wonders if she made the wrong decision and feels like the "odd one out" in her thoughts. She decides to persevere and study hard to catch up to her highly intelligent classmates. She often has insecurities in the back of her mind, which makes her stumble in training she would otherwise do well with.

Talents:

Tikaani is very good at carving little stone statues of animals (see here [link]). She makes her friends a unique animal statue based on their personality.

She can also faintly contact animals in the spirit world, and sometimes call upon them in non-spirit world for help.

She is well read, especially with animals, plant life, and waterbending.

Funfacts: Tikaani's name means "wolf" She wears a wolf-fox skin which was made and given to her from her father when she left home to go to Avatar-Academy.
